Driver Training
Georgia Tech's Defensive Driving course is an online course that you must complete for use of any school vehicles, including the ME van, F350, and F150.
To drive vehicles owned by or rented through Georgia Tech, you're required to complete a training called "Defensive Driving Online". Students can register themselves for that by completing the following steps:
Log in with your GT login
Click "View Course Catalog" on the sidebar
Search "Defensive Driving Online", register and add to cart
Navigate to the course, and complete all the modules, taking the course and the final test.
At the end of the course, there should a certificate or transcript indicating completion--save that transcript/certificate on your PC.
To drive the F-350, F-150, other "large trucks", or 15 passenger vans, you must also complete the "15 Passenger Van" training course on the same GT learning platform/site, via searching the course catalog.
Next, if you are not a GT employee but have completed the Defensive Driving course, you will need to also email the attached Volunteer Agreement form (here) and transcript/Completion Certificate for the two courses to gary.barkley@me.gatech.edu, informing her that you are a student with the Student Competition Center who is providing the forms for accessing GT students vehicles.
If you are a GT employee, no other steps are required. You should be able to sign into the F350 on SUMS after this, if not, contact Jake Tompkins on Slack.
